This work consists of a ten meter drawing. The drawing is filled with texts, images
and poetry. It tells the story of a forest full of birds, in the middle of the forest is a
big black stone, crawling around the stone is the Simon-rat. Alone in a world full
of mystery he tries to solve the riddle behind the stone.
The riddle of the stone is never solved in the manuscript.
After the manucript had been completed it was sent out to four dancers and four
musicians along with an invitation to come to a gallery and solve the riddle of the
black stone during a live performance.
A scenography and costumes was made for the dancers to wear during the
performance. There was no rehearsel and the dancers had not met before the
show. The performance became the result of the dancers and musicians meeting
and their interpretation of the manuscript. The manuscript was placed opposit of
the stage and the audience could follow the manuscript while watching the show. |
